A successful weekend

Islandeady had good reason to be happy after the weekend’s games, as they won their matches at three different grades.

The Intermediate team pulled off a great performance against Belmullet in their Mayo Adult League Division 2 encounter. Supporters were treated to the sight of a great team working with and for each other. Particularly hard-working was Cormac Gordon, who performed extremely well at centrefield but was invaluable in defence and attack as well. Ryan Feehan received a brilliant pass from Peter Gordon, made no mistake about putting it in the net, and scored three points as well. Liam Joyce scored two goals, Seamie Lally scored a goal and two points, while Paul Ruane, Peter Gordon and Darragh Joyce scored one point each. The game ended with Belmullet 0-11, Islandeady 4-8.

The Junior B team recorded a decisive win over Kilmeena in their Mayo Adult League Division 6B contest. That match ended with Kilmeena 2-8 and Islandeady 3-9.

Meanwhile, Islandeady’s Minor team took on Hollymount-Carramore in their Homeland Minor League Division 4 match, and were too strong for their opponents. A great display of football from the Islandeady lads finished with Hollymount-Carramore 1-9, Islandeady 3-11
