Mayo Intermediate Football Championship

Islandeady’s Intermediate team are now in a strong position in the championship, sitting at the top of their group with one game remaining. On Sunday they took on The Neale and emerged victorious thanks to a controlled, persistent and positive team approach. The Neale were first to get a point on the scoreboard but Islandeady were balanced in their attack and created opportunities for themselves. This resulted in points from Paul Ruane, Brendan Gibbons and free-takers Danny McGowan and Finbar O’ Meara, while Cormac Gordon scored a magnificent long-distance point from play. At the break Islandeady was 2 points ahead and the second half points from Danny McGowan, Johnny Concannon, Finbar O’ Meara and Diarmuid Gibbons ensured that Islandeady took the championship points. The final score was Islandeady 0-16, The Neale 1-10.
