Islandeady through to Intermediate Championship Quarter Final

Islandeady started off this game in fine style on Sunday last, scoring 7 points to Kilmaine’s 2 in the opening quarter. That changed, however, when Kilmaine made good use of their chances and scored a fine goal and 3 points. Islandeady’s Brendan Gibbons replied with a point, to bring the teams level at the break.
The opening quarter of the second half was a mirror image of the same period of the first half. Niall McCormack’s point was Islandeady’s only score as Kilmaine recorded 5 well-taken points. Islandeady rallied and put 4 points on the board before Tomás Gibbons finished off a first-rate team movement with a splendid goal. Kilmaine replied with 3 points but the final whistle signalled a drawn game, with both teams on 1-13. This was all that Islandeady needed from this encounter; they now look forward to the quarter final of the Intermediate championship.

Scorers for Islandeady were Tomás Gibbons (1-0);  Brendan Gibbons (0-4); Finbar O’ Meara and Darragh Joyce (0-2) each; Cormac Gordon, Paul Ruane, Niall McCormack, Danny McGowan and Jonathon Concannon (0-1 each)
