West Mayo Scór na nÓg

A very enjoyable night’s entertainment was provided by the G.A.A. clubs of West Mayo on  in Louisburg Parochial Hall on Friday night last. Starting promptly at 7pm, the ballad groups of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Chluain Cearbáin, Acla, Bhuiríos Umhaill and An Pháirc treated the audience to some pleasant singing accompanied by instruments like the flute and guitar. This was followed by Figure dancing courtesy of CLG Chluain Cearbáin - indeed a fine sight. Solo singing was next, and we had singers from C.L.G. Chluain Cearbáin, Acla, Bhuiríos Umhaill, and our own C.L.G. Oileán Éadaigh, represented by Ryan Garvey. Well done Ryan, you did us proud and we enjoyed the song.

Instrumental music was next, and there were fine performances from C.L.G. Chluain Cearbán, Acla,  Bhuiríos Umhaill, Bhaile an Tobair, An Pháirc, and Cumann Peil na mBan Chluain Cearbáin. But a special word of praise for our own Orla, Laura and Martin Graven who so ably represented C.L.G. Oileán Éadaigh. A great performance, very enjoyable. You set our feet a-tapping! Next up was Nathan Walsh, also of C.L.G. Oileán Éadaigh who recited a funny poem by Percy French. Well done, Nathan, and thanks for the entertainment. Following Nathan was C.L.G. Bhuiríos Umhaill with a great sketch about trying to bring Sam home to Mayo. The evening was nicely rounded off by set dancing, again from C.L.G. Bhuiríos Umhaill. Well done to all of the youngsters and in particular to those from C.L.G. Oileán Éadaigh, and thanks for a great night. Nathan Walsh of C.L.G. Oileán Éadaigh was chosen, along with C.L.G. Acla (Ballad Group, Solo Singing and Instrumental Music), C.L.G. Chluain Cearbáin (Figure Dancing), and C.L.G. Bhuiríos Umhaill (Sketch and Set Dancing) to present their acts in the Mayo Scór na nÓg which will be held in C.L.G. Breaffy Clubhouse on Saturday 2nd Dec at 2pm. Congratulations to C.L.G. Bhuiríos Umhaill who won the Deirdre Moran Cup for Best Club on the night.
