Two valuable League points.

Islandeady produced a steady performance in the Mayo Senior League when they defeated Davitts at home on Saturday evening last. In dry, sunny but cold conditions, they played good football after an initial settling-down period when they sent four scoring attempts wide. Brendan Gibbons put the first point over for Islandeady, and Davitts replied in kind. Jonathan Walsh then slotted over a nice point and it was Darragh Joyce who produced Islandeady’s other four points in the first half. Trailing by a single point at the start of the second half, Islandeady worked hard to contain Davitts, holding them to just three points for the entire half. Seamie Lally, Danny McGowan, Johathan Walsh, Levi Barrett and Johnny Concannon all contributed to Islandeady’s tally of six points in the second half. An enjoyable hour of fast, competitive football ended on a scoreline of 0-10 to 0-12 in favour of Islandeady.
