Islandeady defeated The Neale after a fast-moving, engrossing encounter at Islandeady on Sunday. Dry, pleasantly mild conditions allowed the players to express themselves and produce good passing movements, with good defending from the likes of David Gordon making things difficult for The Neale.  Liam Joyce was the one to put the ball in the back of the net twice for Islandeady in the first half, while Brendan Gibbons, Danny McGowan, Paul Moylette and Darragh Joyce contributed seven points to leave the scoreline at 2-7 to Islandeady, 1-7 to The Neale at half time. The second half was a hard-fought affair, with neither side willing to concede defeat. The Neale opened the scoring with a point, cancelled out fairly quickly by Brendan Gibbons of Islandeady with another shot over the bar. The Neale then got three points in a row without reply, but Islandeady’s forwards got the next five. The Neale got one, Ricardo Moylette responded with another for Islandeady. The Neale got two points to Islandeady’s one, then The Neale scored four in a row, putting pressure on the home side. Two more points for Islandeady ended a feast of scoring in an entertaining match which finished 2-17 to Islandeady, 1-18 to The Neale.
