Egan Jewellers Intermediate Football Championship

Islandeady welcomed Parke Keelogues Crimlin to its home ground on a beautifully warm and sunny Sunday afternoon. A keenly contested battle ensued, both teams anxious to take the points from the game, since both lost their first round game in this group stage of the championship. A superb save by Nathan Barrett early in the game prevented PKC getting ahead, and at the first water-break the score was 0-4 apiece. Islandeady’s Tomás Gibbons, Niall McCormack and Peter Gordon did sterling work in the back line. Seamie Lally and Darragh O’ Malley were uncompromising around the centre of the field, but a Man of the Match performance from Peter Collins saw him add a goal and a point to Islandeady’s tally. Although Darragh Joyce, Ryan Feehan and Johnny Concannon all added points, it wasn’t enough as PKC got a goal in the dying stages of the game and pulled ahead to win on a scoreline of 1-10 to Islandeady, 1-15 to Parke Keelogues Crimlin.
